Anna alcock

costume Assistant

Currently working as a Costume Assistant in television, I have worked on a number of television dramas. These include Poldark series five, Killing Eve series one and War of the Worlds. I have also worked on a couple of comedy series; Zapped series three and UKTV Play’s Dad’s Army.

Currently working with Costume Designer Howard Burden, I am building my skills as a costume standby. Working within both the crowd and principle teams I am honing my skills in continuity, looking after actors and SAs on set and completing notes accurately. I enjoy assisting with crowd fittings and also undertaking any alteration tasks.

As part of Creative Skillset I was employed on a brand new high-end television drama called Killing Eve. Working alongside the team on the truck I carried out maintenance and alterations on costumes and also assisted with the supporting artists both dressing and standing by. I learnt a lot about being a trainee on this job and thoroughly enjoyed my first taste of working in TV drama!

Other employment includes working as a part-time Assistant Costumier at Harlequins Costumes in Bromsgrove, engaging my creativity and using my costume construction skills I made costumes for pantomime, musicals and plays.

Previously, I have worked as a Costume Trainee on The Bastard Executioner. Working within the costume making team I constructed, altered and embellished a wide range of medieval style costumes.

Studying for my Theatre Production degree at Bath Spa University enabled me to undertake a number of costume roles. Including Head of Costume Construction and Wardrobe Mistress for Moonfleece and Just So. I have also worked as a Costume and Wardrobe Assistant on a number of productions including The Liberty Tree, The Jungle Book and Company and Chief Propmaker on The Baker’s Wife. My final role at university was Costume Designer on The Servant of Two Masters directed by Greg Banks at Bath Spa Live's University Theatre.
